We all think about whether or not we can survive a scary movie. I think most of us like to think that we would. Here are some films fans think would be survivable, and some common sense solutions could be helpful in a non-apocalyptic situation.

The Sixth Sense (1999)
"The Sixth Sense" is a film with a higher survivability rating mainly because the ghosts in the narrative aren't evil, and some don't even know they are dead. While the film is frightening, it is primarily about human actions directed at specific people rather than a force trying to wipe out humanity. They aren't after you.
Sleepaway Camp (1983)
"Sleepaway Camp" is an excellent example of what should be an axiom in horror movies. If you want to survive, like The Rules in "Scream," there are certain situations and actions that you should avoid. The advice about "Sleepaway Camp" is "Don't go to camp."
The Purge (2013)
One thought I have always had, and I found that I am not alone, is why people stay in the United States with "The Purge" going on. At the very least, it would seem like a much better idea to schedule a vacation, even if you have to drive, when "The Purge" happens, rather than trying to ride it out in your home.
The Nun (2018)
With "The Nun," the opinions seem to be split between just staying out of the Abbey and perhaps staying away from religion. But it seems that prayer is a very effective defense against the evil of Valek, so don't discount the value of that when you are trying to survive.
Unfriended (2014)
"Unfriended" seemed like another film that might be easy to survive. Unless you were explicitly involved in the tragedy and the chat the principal characters are in, your potential for survival is much higher. Staying off the Internet and not playing nasty pranks on other people are the characteristics of survivors in this type of horror film.
Gremlins (1984)
Common sense rules come into play with "Gremlins." Randall Peltzer buys the mogwai for his son, and the three rules are explained to him. But can you expect that your son and his friends will be able to follow these rules strictly? You have to give that some thought, and no one did. It seems like it would be wiser to avoid taking an unknown type of creature home.
Lake Placid (1999)
"Lake Placid" brings up another essential key to survival in a tale of terror. Know when the monster or menace you are fighting is in a situation above your pay grade. Maybe the sheriff should have called in Fish and Game sooner and waited for them to decide. Staying out of the lake seems like an excellent course of action too.
Silence of the Lambs (1999)
Another tip about following the rules comes from "Silence of the Lambs." Usually, the only thing a person has to do to avoid becoming Hannibal Lecter's next victim is not to be rude. Of course, you can't always avoid serial killers, and "Silence" has two of them, but not being disrespectful to Dr. Lecter is a great start.
Oculus (2013)
"Oculus" has, at its center, a spooky mirror that destroyed the parents of the two main characters. I understand curiosity and wanting answers, but if the mirror took your parents away from you and you have to rig a "kill switch" to destroy it, maybe you should leave it where it hasn't hurt anyone since.
Truth or Dare (2018)
Truth or Dare, the game is usually a game used as an icebreaker at parties with the potential to humiliate people. In "Truth or Dare," the movie, not only is there a somewhat vicious version of the game, but somehow a demon is involved. When Truth or Dare comes up, to be safe, offer to pick up lunch for everyone. Problem solved.
Wolf Creek (2005)
Most people have a natural advantage with a film like "Wolf Creek." The film's setting is the Outback of Australia, a desolate and mostly uninhabited area of the country. It's doubtful that you will ever be there, and if you are, beware of people offering help from out of nowhere. Also, if you are in a dire situation where a serial killer is after you in Wolf Creek and you get the better of him, make sure you don't just wound him.
