Coffin-aged wine, anyone? No, we’re not joking. Thanks to 19 Crimes, you can enjoy a glass of coffin-aged wine. The first we know of, if we aren’t counting bottles of the good stuff potentially pried from caskets in a less savory manner! 19 Crimes is letting us ethically fulfill our casket wine fantasy with bottles buried amongst the dead in Tower Hamlets Cemetery, before being unearthed and resurrected for our pleasure.
And if you don’t care to dabble in potentially paranormal wine, fret not! 19 Crimes has limited edition glow-in-the-dark labels now in stores across the UK and Ireland, fixed to bottles that have never seen the inside of a casket. Take a look at the short film “Dig” below to take a peek at the special Halloween labels.
19 Crimes locked a limited run of one hundred bottles of crimson red wine within an oak coffin, lowered it six feet underground, and laid it to rest. After aging among the dead, 19 Crimes felt it best to have a priest present to exhume the wine, to ward off any unwanted paranormal activity. But they didn’t stop there, before distributing the wine to the public, 19 Crimes also invited exorcist Ian Lawman to test the first glass of their coffin-aged wine. But alas, Lawman felt it best not to touch the stuff. “There’s no way I’m trying that wine. There’s something sinister about it as it’s been resting amongst the dead six feet underground. Ghosts don’t have boundaries – they shape-shift, travel through walls and glass, and make their presence known in the strangest of ways. I think 19 Crimes should have kept it buried.”
Are you with Ian Lawman on this one, or is this all only making you thirstier? Well, if you’re a brave soul wanting to know where you can try this coffin-aged wine, there will be complimentary tastings across select U.K. pubs on Halloween weekend. Proceed with caution, you’ll know you’ve found the real thing when you see the 19 Crimes Coffin Aged label, which will beam an electrifying glow when darkness hits.
