Hot on the heels of two brand-new images from Michael Sarnoski’s A Quiet Place: Day One (a prequel to John Krasinski’s 2018 alien invasion blockbuster) comes the film’s very first trailer, and boy does it get the job done. Gigantic in scale and overflowing with tension, this prequel looks to be a worthy addition to the Quiet Place saga.
Let’s take a look…
Listen, your mileage may vary, but we love everything going on here. The initial invasion, seen from Lupita Nyong’o’s point of view on the streets of NYC, calls to mind imagery from Spielberg’s War of the Worlds; the panic and tension are, in classic A Quiet Place fashion, palpable; those noise-hating aliens seem more vicious than ever. We all tend to roll our eyes at prequels these days, but this one looks like an absolute blast.
As previously reported, A Quiet Place: Day One stars Nyong’o, Djimon Hounsou, Joseph Quinn and Alex Wolff. Unlike previous installments in the franchise, this one’s directed by Pig‘s Michael Sarnoski. Another A Quiet Place film is expected from original director John Krasinski somewhere up the road.
We were cautiously optimistic about A Quiet Place: Day One, but this trailer’s got us full-blown hyped. Stay tuned for more on Sarnoski’s A Quiet Place prequel as further updates roll in, and mark your calendar’s for its arrival in theaters on June 28th.
