Fresh off trailers for Heretic and The Front Room, A24 have unveiled their next horror offering from Sputnik director Egor Abramenko, entitled Altar.
The genre giant has teamed up with Chernin Entertainment (Underwater, the Fear Street trilogy) for Altar, which is set to star Lily Collias (Good One), January Jones (Mad Men), David Krumholtz (Oppenheimer), newcomer Hudson Behling and Twin Peaks legend Kyle MacLachlan.
Plot details for Altar, written by Will Soodik (Westworld) and based on a short story by Philip Fracassi, are scarce, but Deadline report that the movie is:
A horror film that follows the summer of a young boy, forced to grow up faster than he ever imagined.
If you haven’t seen it, Abramenko’s sci-fi horror Sputnik is well worth your time. Deadline remind that the film was supposed to have its world premiere at Tribeca Festival, followed by a wide release in Russia via Sony, but Covid unfortunately had other plans.
Philip Fracassi is a Bram Stoker Award-nominated author of horror and sci-fi. Altar marks the second of his stories optioned for feature adaptation following Death, My Old Friend, which Deadline reported had been picked up by director Christopher Riggert.
That’s all we have now on Altar, but you can be sure we’ll be following this mysterious project very closely, and bringing you all the updates as they roll in.
