The latest horror from genre titans A24 officially has a cast and title thanks to Deadline’s exclusive reveal that Amber Midthunder (Prey), Ayo Edebiri (Bottoms) and John Malkovich (Billions, Being John Malkovich) are set to topline the mammoth cast of Opus.

Marking the first feature of writer-director Mark Anthony Green, Opus is said to center on “an iconic pop starโ€™s return following his decades-long disappearance.”

Deadline also reports that alongside Midthunder, Edebiri and Malkovich, Opus’ cast includes Stephanie Suganami (Power Book II: Ghost), Emmy nominee Young Mazino (Beef), and Tatanka Means (Killers of the Flower Moon). Yellowjackets superstar Juliette Lewis is apparently also in talks for a role.

Opus will mark Midthunder’s second outing with A24, following her role in this year’s Dream Scenario. Opus will see her return to the horror genre since the Emmy and FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-winning Prey.

Furthermore, as you might expect from a movie about a pop star, we can expect some banging tunes from Opus, as Deadline notes in their report that โ€œAdditional EPs include musical artists The-Dream and Nile Rodgers, who will also pen original songs for the film.โ€ Producers will include Collin Creighton and Brad Weston for Makeready, Poppy Hanks and Jelani Johnson for Macro Film Studios, and Josh Bachove. Macroโ€™s Charles D. King will exec produce alongside Sara Newkirk Simon.

As is usually the case with A24, more details on Opus are currently under wraps, but we’ll be bringing you the exciting updates as and when we get them!
