There’s just something about a relative proposing the question, “Does it make you horny?” that is deeply unsettling on every level imaginable. This teaser trailer for the upcoming Austrian horror-thriller, Family Dinner serves up all the deeply uncomfortable vibes. The story follows overweight and insecure, Simi, as she spends Easter weekend with her famous nutritionist aunt. As one might imagine, the shaming is in full swing as Simi’s aunt hopes to get her on “a healthier track.” The icy family dynamics and weirdo cousin add to an increasingly malevolent atmosphere, leaving Simi feeling uneasy. Weight isn’t the only thing she’s about to lose.
From Austrian filmmaker Peter Hengl, Family Dinner will celebrate its World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival June 10th at the Village East Cinema with filmmakers and cast in attendance.
