Shudder is teaming up with director Jeffrey A. Brown once again, as the filmmaker’s latest feature is headed to the streaming service. As reported by Deadline, The Unheard is set to debut on the service in March, as they have taken the rights in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. This marks the second time that Brown’s work has found a home at Shudder, as his previous movie, The Beach House, was released by them in 2019.

Lachlan Watson (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Chucky) leads the cast, with Nick Sandow (Orange Is the New Black, Clarice) and Brendan Meyer (The OA, Color Out of Space) also starring. Also encouraging is that Michael and Shawn Rasmussen penned the screenplay, with the duo having previously penned the Sam Raimi-produced creature feature Crawl. As for what viewers will be treated to? A synopsis for the film reads as follows:

The Unheard follows 20-year-old Chloe Grayden (Lachlan Watson), who after undergoing an experimental procedure to restore her damaged hearing, begins to suffer from auditory hallucinations seemingly related to the mysterious disappearance of her mother.”

Andrew D. Corkin, who also worked on The Beach House, is on board as a producer, with Theo James (The White Lotus) serving as an executive producer. The Rasmussens also serve as producers on the project. Brown had this to say about it:

“I am beyond excited to be working with Shudder again. We had a fantastic experience with The Beach House and I’m super grateful to have the opportunity to share The Unheard with its members. Our cast and crew have delivered a stunning piece of work and I cannot wait for audiences to take our trip into the strange realms between life and death and silence and noise!”

This is just the latest in a series of acquisitions by Shudder, which remains a haven for genre fans in the increasingly crowded streaming landscape. Recently, they became the home of viral horror sensation Skinamarink, following its very successful theatrical run. The company also announced that they’ve taken the rights to Influencer from director Kurtis David Harder. As for Brown, he’s remained busy in the years since his last feature as a location manager on movies such as Werewolves Within and The Dead Don’t Die.

The Unheard arrives on Shudder March 31.
