Well, the rumor mill’s been a-churnin’, and today Warner Bros. went ahead and made it officially official: Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2, which will once again feature Michael Keaton as the ghost with the most, hits theaters on September 6th, 2024.

As we’ve previously reported, Beetlejuice 2 will also star Jenna Ortega (who recently collaborated with Burton on Netflix’s smash-hit, Wednesday) as the daughter of Winona Ryder’s Beetlejuice character, Lydia Deetz. As for whether or not Ryder will return, well, there’s nothing official on that front yet, but we’d be surprised if she doesn’t!

Also back in action: composer Danny Elfman, who recently expressed his excitement about teaming up with Burton for this long-awaited sequel.

Beyond all of the above, we know precious little about what Beetlejuice 2 will be about, but it seems safe to assume that Ortega’s character will summon Keaton’s character, hijinks will ensue, and that big, striped, Tim Burton-y sandworms may be involved. Stay tuned for further updates on Beetlejuice 2 as they roll in.
