According to a new report over at Variety, Charlie Brooker’s long-running and consistently nightmarish Black Mirror will be returning to Netflix with a seventh season, one which they claim is set to go into production before the end of the year. The wait between seasons oughtta be a bit shorter this time, in other words!

Like any anthology series (and particularly Black Mirror), the latest season of Brooker’s near-future sci-fi series was something of a mixed bag, though it did feel like this most recent batch of episodes had more hits than misses (which episodes are which is entirely up to you; in my experience, no one agrees completely on which Black Mirror episodes are “good”). Hearing that another season is nearly ready to go into production suggests Brooker had plenty more waiting in the wings when season six wrapped.

Says Variety:

“No casting has been confirmed yet for Season 7 but Variety understands the show is set to go into production later this year with Brooker, Annabel Jones and Jessica Rhodes believed to be returning as executive producers. Plot details and number of episodes are still being kept under wraps.”

Nothing further to report at this time, in other words! We don’t know how many eps there’ll be, when they’ll drop, who’ll be in them, what they’ll be about, or what any of them are called. Indeed, the post you have just read exists solely to inform you that a new season of Black Mirror is en route, to get hyped for it (assuming, like us, you consider yourself a Black Mirror fan), and to stay tuned for further updates as they roll in.
