Brad Anderson (Session 9, The Machinist) is back with a bite: Deadline reports today that Vertical Entertainment has secured North American and US rights to his latest feature, Blood.
Blood was written by Will Honley and stars Michelle Monaghan (True Detective) and Scream king Skeet Ulrich. Plus, a stellar supporting cast including Finlay Wojtak-Hissong, Rodrigo Beilfuss, Erik Athavale, June B. Wilde, and Skylar Morgan Jones.
Blood follows Jess (Monaghan), a young nurse and mother who, after separating from her husband (Ulrich), moves back with her children into an old farmhouse. It doesn’t take long for Blood to embody its title, after Jess’ son Owen (Wojtak-Hissong) is bitten by a rabid dog, and a mysterious and frightening infection sets in. As Owen succumbs to the illness, Jess’ discovery of a disturbing cure makes her question just how far she’ll go to save her child.
According to Vertical Entertainment partner Peter Jarowey “Brad Anderson has delivered the quintessential horror film with a cast, led by Monaghan and Ulrich, that delivers on every level.” With a string of effective thrillers under his belt (and of course, the creepy cult classic Session 9), Blood looks set to be another exhilarating entry into Brad Anderson’s filmography.
While the feature will be released to both theaters and digital platforms, Blood does not yet have a release date.
