Good news for physical media aficionados and anyone who doesn’t want to rely on tracking down wherever Tenebrae might be streaming. Italian horror master Dario Argento’s 1982 darkly humorous and notoriously grisly murder mystery is coming home in top form. Argento’s stylish film follows an American author who travels to Rome to promote his latest novel, only to become embroiled in a series of grisly murders that seem to be inspired by his own work.
The cinematography, score, and razorblade violence serve up a whole ass feast. Argento’s signature visual flair is on full display, with vibrant colors, surreal dream sequences, and meticulously choreographed murder scenes that are both gruesome and beautiful. The fan favorite is getting a proper 4K restoration thanks to Synapse Films, in conjunction with Arrow Video, and we feel like we should send them a thank you card and a bouquet of black leather gloves.
The two-disc set includes a 4K UHD and a Blu-ray. The blood is flying on that slipcover, and the reversible cover artwork is serving up original Italian poster goodness. You can get your hands on this beauty September 26, 2023.
Co-starring John Saxon (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Daria Nicolodi (Phenomena), John Steiner (Caligula) and featuring beautiful cinematography by Luciano Tovoli (Suspiria), this stunning all-new 4K restoration includes hours of extras and a bonus Blu-ray! Check out the full details below.
