The first half of Chucky‘s latest season has come to a close, with the remaining four episodes of the season set to premiere sometime next year. While speaking with Variety about Chucky’s latest series of hijinks (which included everyone’s favorite murderous doll moving into the goddamn White House), series creator Don Mancini offered up a few thoughts on where Chucky might go from here.

Says Mancini:

โ€œ[Chucky] really has to contend with legitimate new contenders to the throne like M3GAN and Annabelle. He has to deal with that place for himself in the pop culture world and thatโ€™s how we really touch the ground with Chucky. We give this off-the-wall character a crisis that has the sting of real pain and real life. But it just makes him angrier and you know what happens when Chucky gets angry.โ€

In response, Variety points out that both Chucky and M3GAN are NBCUniversal properties, and presses Mancini on whether or not we might ever see these two pint-sized killers cross paths. Here’s how Variety describes his response:

โ€œI would say, stay tuned,โ€ Mancini says, sounding matter of fact.

Chucky vs. M3GAN. Now there’s a fun idea! Of course Mancini’s response doesn’t confirm anything, but at the very least it doesn’t sound entirely out of the question. How you’d manage to get those two characters into one movie (or one episode of Chucky) is a problem for a screenwriter to figure out; our job is to stand on the sidelines, weighing in on whether or not we’d be interested in seeing such a thing happen. And to that end, we at FANGORIA would like to issue the following statement: “Absolutely fuck yes.”

Will anything ever come of this? Oh, who knows? The history of the horror genre is littered with the bodies of great ideas that never came to fruition, and this may well prove to be yet another one of those. But on the very outside chance that Chucky vs. M3GAN is something we could will into existence, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed.

Stay tuned for more on Chucky and M3GAN as further updates roll in.
