Ask anyone who’s been playing horror games for long enough, and they’ll likely tell you that the original Clock Tower is one of the scariest games ever made. The title put players in the shoes of a young orphan named Jennifer, who – upon being adopted by a new family – finds herself exploring their palatial estate while avoiding a character called “Scissorman.” True to his name, Scissorman was a tiny, goblin-like dude wielding an enormous pair of scissors. Players must hide, outrun, and outwit Scissorman in order to stay alive, with no means of defending themselves.

A handful of Clock Tower games were made over the years, but it’s been a long time since a new one found its way to consoles. That will soon change with the release of Clock Tower: Rewind, an “enhanced” port of the original Clock Tower game headed our way from the folks at Limited Run Games and WayForward. If you never got a chance to play the previous titles in this franchise, this is definitely something worth getting excited about.

Today brings the news (via the good folks at Bloody Disgusting) that pre-orders for Clock Tower: Rewind‘s Collector’s Edition will open on May 31st. Pre-orders will remain open through June 30th, which gives you plenty of time to decide if this Collector’s Edition is right for you. Let’s take a look at what’s inside…

According to Bloody Disgusting, the Collector’s Edition of Clock Tower: Rewind will include…

  • A Barrowโ€™s Mansion Clock Tower statuette
  • An acrylic figure set featuring classic sprite work of Jennifer and Scissorman
  • A double-sided poster featuring the classicย Clock Towerย art from the Super Famicom release, and a new piece fromย Shintaro Kago
  • A Dan Barrows stress ball
  • Ham Object enamel pin
  • Demon Idol keychain
  • Sticker Sheet
  • The original soundtrack on CD
  • Covers for the game case and Collectorโ€™s Edition box feature art fromย Mariel Kinuko Cartwrightย andย Mr. Kasuy.

Bloody’s report also reveals that the standard release will come with a physical disc or cartridge (in the case of the PC version, buyers will receive a USB key) with case. They also have a great breakdown of the new enhancements that will be included in this version of the game:

“Using Limited Run Gamesโ€™ Carbon Engine, Clock Tower: Rewindย will maintain the gameplay, graphics, and sound of the original version, but will also add modern features and enhancements. Play original mode to experienceย Clock Tower as it was when initially released in 1995, or play the enhanced mode with extra content and improvements. Additional features include a new animated intro, opening and ending vocal theme songs (performed byย Mary McGlynn), motion-comic cutscenes, creator interview, art gallery, border artwork, save states, and a music player.”

You can head over to Limited Run Games’ website now to see the various editions of Clock Tower: Rewind that are on offer, and be sure to bookmark that page if you’re interested in pre-ordering the Collector’s Edition when those sales open up on May 31st. Stay tuned for further updates on Clock Tower: Rewind as they become available, folks!
