It’s heartbreaking that this relatively quiet movie was released on the loudest cinematic weekend of the year, perhaps the greatest casualty of buried-beneath-Barbenehimer. But that’s all the more reason to get out there and check it out. Seth Rogan is a producer on this one, which instantly piqued our interest. It’s a shame this wasn’t held for a September or October theatrical release, but the good news is we’re getting a September Digital and Blu-Ray release. So that’s something! This one hails from Samuel Bodin, the man behind Netflix series Marianne, which we know had a lot of fans sad to see it end.

Cobweb centers on eight-year-old Peter, plagued by a mysterious, constant tap, tap from inside his bedroom wall โ€“ a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peterโ€™s fear intensifies, he believes that his parents (Lizzy Caplan and Antony Starr) could be hiding a terrible, dangerous secret and questions their trust.ย  And for a child, what could be more frightening than that? The movie takes place during Halloween week, with leaves and pumpkins in abundance, making it a perfect addition to your spooky season watchlist.

Special features include:

  • Becoming โ€œThe Girlโ€
  • Through the Eyes of a Child
  • A Primal Fearย

Cobweb arrives on Blu-rayโ„ข + Digital and DVD September 12 from Lionsgate. The release will retail $21.99 for Blu-rayโ„ข + Digital and $19.98 for DVD, that’s still cheaper than a trip to the theater, so pop some popcorn, settle in, and show this original horror movie some love come September.
