Cocaine Bear, a grisly horror-comedy directed by Elizabeth Banks, stomped its way into theaters back in February, went on to rake in over $85M at the worldwide box office, is already streaming on Peacock, and will soon be available to purchase via physical home media (the Blu-ray lands on April 18th, don’tcha know). For those to keep the Cocaine Bear party going, there are plenty of options to choose from!
But let’s say you want a little more. Perhaps something in documentary form? Maybe an investigation into the true story that inspired Banks’s film? Well, turns out Peacock’s got you covered on that front, as well:
This is the trailer for Cocaine Bear: The True Story, a new doc hitting Peacock tomorrow. Here’s how they’re describing the project, via press release:
“Cocaine Bear: The True Story dives deep into the bizarre actual events behind the hit Hollywood movie Cocaine Bear. The documentary tells the story of Kentucky blueblood Drew Thornton and the infamous drug run that will forever link him to a Georgia bear on cocaine. The one-hour documentary features interviews with those closest to the case including ย the former sheriff who was one of the first on the scene, and the special agent whose team found The Cocaine Bear.”
The true story behind Cocaine Bear is a bit of lore that popped up online every so often before Banks’s film hit theaters, and in the months leading up to the film’s release it seemed like every other website had their own retelling of the tale on offer. If you missed out on all that coverage, the 60-minute Cocaine Bear: The True Story sounds like it’ll get the job done just as well, with the added bonus of interviews with those involved with the case.
If that sounds up your alley, be sure to cruise by Peacock tomorrow, when the doc drops. Everyone else, standby for Cocaine Bear‘s release on Blu-ray next week!
