When we heard Cocalero, the beloved South American-inspired botanical spirit, was creating a special edition bottle to commemorate the RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness series, we were pretty excited to check it out. Naturally, we were curious about how this collaboration came to be so we went straight to the source and chatted with the team at Cocalero to find out the inspiration behind the creation, and also snagged you some cocktail recipes sure to quench the thirst of even the toughest of the T-Virus undead.

What made you want to collaborate with Resident Evil?

Who wouldn’t want to work with one of the most successful game franchises in history! We also feel that the brands work seamlessly together and appeal to a very similar audience. This international collaboration actually started as a local collaboration in Japan, where Resident Evil is known as Biohazard. The success of this initial partnership opened up the opportunity to expand the release to a global level and we embraced the opportunity with open arms!

Can you talk to us about what went into designing the RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness bottle?

We have world-class design team Bold Studios working on our brand, and this was a challenge that truly excited them! They conducted extensive research into the overall Resident Evil brand along with the RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness series and blended these elements with our core Cocalero design. We’re really proud of the outcome, and consumers have been complimenting us on the package since we launched.

The color makes it pretty perfect for a zombie-inspired spirit. What are some of your favorite cocktails to make with Cocalero? And are there any special Resident Evil-inspired recipes you can share with us?

Thank you, we do love the color! Not only does Cocalero’s hue correspond with the zombie theme, it reflects the color of the power boosting / healing Green Herb found in the Resident Evil games.

As for cocktail inspiration, Cocalero has some beloved signature builds as well as cocktails designed specifically for the RESIDENT EVIL: Infinite Darkness collaboration. Let’s start with some recipes meant to be paired with the Resident Evil theme.
