Consumed - Brainstorm Media

Good news for fans of backwoods monster mayhem as today brings with it the first trailer for Consumed. This is the new creature feature from The Butcher Brothers – aka director/producer Mitchell Altieri and producer Phil Flores – which stars Devon Sawa as a ruthless mountain man hunting down a mysterious, deadly beast. If I may? Fuck yes. Absolutely fuck yes. But donโ€™t take my word for it, check it out for yourself.ย

So yeah, thereโ€™s a lot to like here. It starts off as these things often do, with normal people trying to enjoy a bit of nature removed from the hustle and bustle of modern living. Then a big, goo-leaking monster has to come and mess everything up. An unfortunate soul then finds herself caught between Sawa and a creature that is the stuff of legend brought to life. In addition to the trailer, weโ€™ve also got a new poster for you to check out below. The brief synopsis for the film reads as follows:ย

โ€œTrapped between a madman (Devon Sawa) seeking revenge and a skin-stealing monster, a married couple must find the strength to fight and make it out of the woods alive.โ€

Sawa needs no introduction to genre fans and Fango readers. Heโ€™s been a mainstay of the genre dating back to his work in Final Destination, all the way up to his continued work in Chucky, which includes him dying multiple times over the course of the show’s three seasons. Some of his other notable horror credits include Hunter Hunter, Black Friday and The Exorcism of Molly Hartley.ย

Courtney Halverson (St. Agatha) and Mark Famiglietti (Twisted Sister) round out the central cast. David Calbert (The Wolves) wrote the script. As for Altieri and Flores, their previous credits include films such as The Violent Kind and The Night Watchmen. They are on board as producers of this one alongside Jeffrey Allard and Joel Pincosy.ย

โ€œWhen I first read the script for Consumed, I was excited about the challenges it presented,โ€ Altieri previously said when Sawa joined the cast last year. โ€œIts characters not only have to face a terrifying creature stalking the woods, but individually, they are also forced to struggle with their inner demons brought on by true-to-life tribulations such as cancer or grieving loss. I set out to visually adapt a film that balanced these situations we may all face at one time or another, coupled with the exhilaration and sheer horror of being lost deep in the wilderness as something unknown tracks your every move.โ€

Consumed arrives in theaters and On Demand beginning August 16. For more, be sure to check out our list of the best creature features you can find on streaming.ย
