According to Deadline, director Corin Hardy (whose The Nun raked in over $365M worldwide and who once came very close to rebooting The Crow with Jason Momoa) has found his next project, and it’s based on the haunting of King’s Tavern, a notoriously spirit-infested establishment that is considered “the most haunted building in all of Mississippi.” That’s it at the top of this page, should you want a visual aid.
The film, to be called Lure, is headed our way via Universal Pictures and Brad Fuller/Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. Plot details are being kept under wraps for the time being, but we do know the script is currently being written by Chris Bernier.
King’s Tavern sounds like quite the place: bodies hidden in the wall behind a fireplace (with a jeweled dagger, no less), crying ghost babies, beds that feel warm despite no one having just been laying in them, “mysterious reflections” appearing within mirrors. Sounds like our kinda place! We won’t be in Mississippi any time soon, unfortunately, so Hardy’s film will just have to do for the time being.
Nothing further to report on Lure for now (though we’re eager to learn more; we’re particularly curious to know if Lure will focus on Madeline, who may have been murdered in the King’s Tavern by one of its original owners and now lives on as the location’s most well-known ghost), but we’ll certainly keep you informed as further updates roll in. Stay tuned for those, folks!
