This fall brings a new supernatural slasher creeping our way. Creeping Death tackles the Aos Si, a Gaelic deity that is hellbent on ruining Halloween for those who don’t provide a treat for the ancient spirits. The festive feature marks Matt Sampere’s directorial debut, with Sampere doing triple duty as writer and actor. Also joining the Creeping Death cast: Monique Parent (That’s A Wrap), Scott Lea (Dark Feathers) and Alan Maxson (Godzilla: King of the Monsters) as the vengeful spirit.
The movie promises practical FX, provided by Oliver Poser (Sky Sharks) and Multivision FX. The film was produced by Jason Scott Goldberg (Glorious, Stay Out of the Attic) and Tyler Dane Sutton in Syracuse, New York during Fall 2021, after the success of his short film of the same name. Creeping Death had its international premiere at UK Frightfest in the fall of 2023, and thanks to Cineverse, will be widely available this Halloween season.

While trying to enjoy a peaceful Halloween with his mother, Tim is paid a visit by his rambunctious, up-for-anything friends. After reluctantly letting them inside the house he becomes intertwined with the circumstances of their Halloween prankings. One that turns out has broken a sacred tradition kept between humans and otherworldly deities known as the Aos Si.
Creeping Death is a callback to terrors birthed in the mythology and atmospheric dread behind the Halloween traditions based in an ancient Celtic past.
“Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved slasher films and celebrating Halloween,” says Sampere. “I knew I wanted to dive into the holiday’s lore for my first feature, and that’s how I learned about the Aos Si — vengeful spirits related to trick or treating in Celtic mythology. Creeping Death is the first supernatural slasher to incorporate this deity. I hope viewers enjoy my love letter to Halloween, its traditions, and a warning to those who trick.”
