Just a few days before his comeback Dark Glasses hits Shudder, Dario Argento is here to put an end to those ‘final film’ rumours with a very exciting announcement about his next feature.
Speaking at Sitges Film Festival, the iconic and prolific director behind Suspiria, Tenebrae, Deep Red (and so, SO many more) revealed that his next feature will star Oscar-winner Isabelle Huppert (The Piano Teacher, Elle).
Huppert is regularly described as one of the greatest actresses of all time, having been nominated for an Oscar for her role in Paul Verhoeven’s Elle, nominated 16 times for a César award, winning a BAFTA, Golden Globe and countless other accolades. She is well-renowned for her portrayals of cold and contemptuous women (so fingers crossed we see her in a villain role!)
Whatever Argento has planned, a collaboration between Huppert and the Master of Horror himself surely has foreign horror fans frothing at the mouth to learn more, although currently most of the juicy details are still under wraps.
What we do know is that earlier this year at London’s Arrow FrightFest, Argento revealed that his next movie is a remake of an as-of-now unnamed Mexican thriller from the 1940s, and that shooting will begin in Paris sometime next spring.
