Following this week’s release of MaXXXine, plus trailers for The Front Room and Heretic, A24 have secured their next horror feature with Mice, a mysterious horror thriller to be directed by David Bruckner (V/H/S, The Night House, The Ritual, Hellraiser)

Deadline, who reported the news exclusively earlier today, reveal that Mice will be directed from a script by Todd Spence and Zak White.

The spec marks their first sale to a major studio which, as Deadline notes, for  first time scribes is hugely impressive. Mice must really be something special.

But what is Mice actually about? Unfortunately, that remains a closely guarded secret for now, with A24 having no comment on the upcoming film, that they’re set to finance and produce.

Could it be a violent killer rodent type deal, like Daniel Mann’s 1971 Willard?Or are the mice a metaphor for something much more sinister?

Whatever Mice has in store for us, we’re sure it’ll be packed to the brim full of practical and special effects. From the face-split siren of Amateur Night to the terrifying, towering jötunn of The Ritual, and of course the devilishly demonic new Cenobites in Hellraiser, if there’s one thing Bruckner knows how to do, it’s bring something damn horrifying to life in the best way possible.

We also heard, back in January, that Bruckner was set to remake the gooey sci-fi horror classic, The Blob. How Mice fits in with that production schedule remains to be seen.

While we may not know much about Mice, our anticipation is already sky high given Bruckner’s track record and A24’s confidence in the script. We’ll bring you any and all updates as they crawl in…
