According to our pals over at Bloody Digsusting, David Bruckner’s Hellraiser (which arrived on Hulu towards the end of last year, and which kicked all manner of ass) is finally getting a physical release after spending the first months of its life as a streaming exclusive. The catch? As of right now, the Hellraiser physical release is confirmed only for the UK.
Says Bloody:
“We have no idea at this time whether or not Hellraiser will be released on DVD/Blu-ray here in the United States, but weโve learned the film is hitting DVD over in the United Kingdom.
The UK DVD release of Hellraiser (2022) arrives on March 27, 2023. As always, youโll be able to watch the disc here in the States but youโll need a Region Free DVD player first.”
Our American readers might read the above and think, “What the hell? Where’s our Hellraiser disc?!” A reasonable reaction! Fans of Bruckner’s film have been clamoring for their very own copies of Hellraiser since the movie hit Hulu in October. But it seems likely that if Pinhead’s latest misadventure ended up with a physical release overseas, we’ll be getting one of our own eventually. Or maybe not! Who knows? The world is a fickle place.
We, however, are choosing to remain hopeful that Bruckner’s Hellraiser will one day live in a beautifully-designed box on our movie shelf. And while we’re at it, we’re also gonna remain hopeful that Bruckner (along with writers Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins) are invited to get the Hellraiser gang back together for a sequel.
Nothing further to report at this time, but rest assured we’ll be keeping you informed on the happenings with Hellraiser‘s Stateside physical release as they become available. Stay tuned, folks!
