We’ve had a lot of fun shooting, slashing, electrocuting, chainsawing and fire-bombing our way through Deep Silver Dambuster’s Dead Island 2 since it launched earlier this year, and today we’re thrilled to learn the studio is on the verge of launching its very first story expansion pack for their gnarly, darkly comic “Zompocalypse” sequel.
Take it away, press release!
“Lose yourself in a surreal, psycho-horror dreamscape as you investigate a mysterious Malibu cult in Dead Island 2’s first story expansion, Haus, launching on Nov. 2.
“Haus gives players an entirely new storyline to smash zombies through. Amidst the Zompocalypse, a billionaireโs secret techno-death cult fights for survival in Haus, where humanity is unleashed from its moral restraints. The groupโs leader, Konstantin, prophesizes that this is the ‘paragon of a new future.’ Itโs up to players to prove them wrong.
“Players will battle through Haus with new weapons and cards, which theyโll need to use against the ever-growing population of undead seeking their next meal.”
The press release goes on to say that Haus takes place in an entirely new location, “a mysterious and stylish villa in Malibu where the boundaries of morality are pushed to the limit.” This villa will task players with navigating a “deranged labyrinth of biomes where rational architecture is subverted by expanding narrative spaces,” a feat made possible by the variety of new tools that this expansion will make available to players.
What kind of tools? We’re glad you asked! First there’s the K-ROSSBOW, a weapon crafted in service of lethal precious, which will “unleash devastating long-range firepower and explode zombified brains with ease.” Next up is the Hog Roaster, a flamethrowing device that is apparently “the ultimate ticket to visceral slaying.” The press release also mentions something called the Dead Islands, which are meant to “take the weight off your shoulders whilst you smash undead enemies into oblivion.”
All of that sounds excellent, but that’s not all: Haus will also feature eight new skill cards, all of which will fine-tune the player character in a variety of fun, new ways. There’s no word on what particular powers and skills these cards might unlock, but if they’re anything like the ones in the standard game … we’re certain they’ll be a helluva lot of fun to play around with!
Dead Island 2’s Haus expansion will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (via the Epic Games Store) on November 2nd, and we couldn’t be more excited to dive back in.
