Ladies and gentlemen, meet Doctor Plague. The cult-driven serial killer flick is currently filming in London, with Shogun Films backing the production. Ben Fortune is in the directorโs chair and weโve got some first-look photos at the upcoming detective flick with lots of murderous intrigue. Oh, and even a connection to the infamous Jack the Ripper! Check it out.ย
Shogun Films is also behind the killer clown flick Helloween, which we previewed for you fine folks earlier this year. The photos very much look like CSI meets a slasher flick. Mileage may vary but that sounds right up my alley, as I am a big fan of any movie where cops have to say stuff like โset the perimeter,โ in addition to being a huge slasher fan. Weโve also got several more photos from the film for you to check out below.ย
โStarring Martin Kemp (The Krays, Embrace of the Vampire) as jaded detective John Verney who is on the trail of an ancient cult of Plague Doctors which is cutting a bloody swathe through the London underworld. Dismissed by his superiors as gang on gang killings, the murders draw John into an obsessive maze of a secret society conspiracy with links to the Jack The Ripper murders of 1888, putting him and his family in the gravest of danger.โ
Trinity Creative Partnership is distributing the movie worldwide, with the release set for sometime in the first half of 2025. The cast is led by Martin Kemp, with Peter Woodward (Babylon 5), David Yip (A View To A Kill), Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott (Nemesis), Wendy Glenn (Youโre Next) and Daisy Beaumont (The World Is Not Enough) rounding out the ensemble.ย
Jonathan Sothcott is producing the film, with the screenplay by Robert Dunn (Knightfall) based on an idea by Robert Geoffrey Hughes. Jamie McLeod-Ross and Charley McDougall are on board as executive producers. Sothcott had this to say about it:ย
โWe think our Plague Doctor is a bold and exciting new addition to the horror pantheon โ with his demonic silhouette and glowing green eyes, heโs an unstoppable killer for the ages, armed with a knee-crossing array of medieval weapons to help him cleanse the โsinnersโ he stalks through Londonโs underworld. Itโs an iconic image and one we hope will be burned into audiencesโ nightmares for years to come.โ
