Slasher: Ripper fans have waited roughly six weeks to find out the identity of the murderous Widow. Last night, the answer was revealed in a two-episode season finale. We’ve got your exclusive villain reveal from episode 8, so beware if you’re not caught up! This is your final warning! Let’s rewind for just a moment with a quick overview.
Slasher: Ripper takes theย franchise back in time to the late 19th century and followsย Basil Garvey (Eric McCormack),ย a charismatic tycoon whose success is only rivaled by his ruthlessness, as he oversees a city on the cusp of a new century, andย a social upheaval that will see its streets run red with blood.ย A killer is stalking the mean streets, but instead of targeting the poor and downtrodden like Jack the Ripper, The Widow is meting out justice against the rich and powerful. The only person standing in the way of this killer is the newly promoted detective, Kenneth Rijkers, whose ironclad belief in justice may wind up being yet another victim of The Widow.ย
In the seventh episode of the season, “Divine Secrets” Kenneth’s lists of suspects are largely either jailed or buried. He sets his sights on Georges the magician, who is slowly losing his grip on reality. In a final, bloody performance, Georges finally exposes the Widow’s hand. In the eighth episode, “Vengeance”, the Widow nearly has her final victim in her clutches. Kenneth’s time is running out, but upon revealing the killer’s identity, he grapples with how to best bring justice to the victims. Now let’s take a look at the exact moment when The Widow is revealed.
Regina! You rapscallion! Regina’s insistence on Viviana being the murderer was indeed a case of “The lady doth protest too much.” With good old fashioned revenge as the motive, she gave Rijkers the opportunity to deliver before taking justice into her own hands. โOnly justice renders vengeance unnecessary. Youโre the man Iโve met capable of achieving that here, but my days of waiting are done.โ
What happens immediately after this reveal is a gnarly display of taking justice into your own hands, and we are here for it.
