FANGORIA readers will of course remember Parker Finn’s Smile, the blockbuster horror movie that unexpectedly took the world by storm when it premiered back in 2022. The success of that film could be pinned on any number of things – the simple-yet-creepy concept, the outstanding marketing campaign that Paramount put together for the film, a very effective trailer – but the end result was $217M in tickets sold worldwide and a first-look deal for Finn at that studio.
Well, as FANGORIA readers will also remember, Finn is currently putting together a sequel to that film, which remains officially untitled but we’ll call Smile 2 for the purposes of this post. According to Deadline, said sequel has just added a very strong actress to its cast: Dylan Gelula, who might recall from her scene-stealing turn in last year’s Dream Scenario.
There’s no word on who Gelula will be playing in the film (which also stars Naomi Scott, Lukas Gage, Kyle Gallner and Rosemarie DeWitt), but then, there’s very little word on what Smile 2 will even be about. We imagine that, once again, it will involve direct eye contact paired with intensely creepy smiles, along with people violently offing themselves.
Smile 2, or whatever it ends up being called, will hit theaters on October 18th. Stay tuned for further updates on this one as they roll in, folks. Plenty more where this came from.
