Golden Globee, Emmy and FANGORIA Chainsaw Award-winning actress Elisabeth Moss is keen to return for a sequel to Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man – and that we might be closer than ever to getting one.
Released back in 2o20, The Invisible Man starred Moss as Cecilia Kass, a woman who manages to escape an abusive relationship only to realize her ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) may be using state-of-the-art invisibility technology to stalk her.
Even with a theatrical run cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, The Invisible Man managed to rack up an impressive worldwide total of $144.5 million, on a budget of $7 million. With numbers like that, it’s surprising a sequel has taken this long.
Speaking with Josh Horowitz for Happy Sad Confused, Moss spoke about her upcoming work on thriller Shell, as well as on upcoming show The Veil. She’s also asked asked what’s going on with a much-anticipated sequel to Blumhouse and Universal’s sci-fi horror, to which she cryptically teases that:
We are, I would say – and by we, I mean Blumhouse and my production company [Love & Squalor Pictures] – we are closer than we have ever been to cracking it. And I feel very good about it. We are very much intent on continuing that story, for sure.
Horowitz also asks if Moss will be making an appearance in Whannell’s upcoming take on another classic Universal monster, the Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner-starring Wolf Man, to which she says:
I wish… I would love that. I think that’s the idea for Universal in the future if Wolf Man goes well, is to revive that universe, but no, unfortunately I have not been asked to be in Wolf Man […] but if we can get this sequel happening then maybe we can get a universe started!
Hmmm. So it sounds like a no for now, but not entirely off the cards? Either way, we’re just happy to hear that The Invisible Man 2 is on the way, and we’ll bring you all the updates as we get them!
