Elisha Cuthbert returns to horror in The Cellar! (We are sincerely hoping she gets to keep all her fingers this time.) Set to make its world premiere at SXSW, the film has been picked up by Shudder for an April 15th premiere. Filmed on location in Roscommon, Ireland writer-director Brendan Muldowney’s The Cellar centers on Keira Woods (Cuthbert) whose daughter has mysteriously disappeared in the cellar of their new country home. Ancient entities are at play, and Keira has to face them in order to save her family.
Elisha is 2005’s House of Wax iconic final girl Carly Jones, and we can’t wait to see her return to the genre! She managed to hold her own against maniacal brothers with a penchant for morbid art, and we have a good feeling she’ll fare pretty well against supernatural entities as well.
Following its SXSW world premiere, The Cellar will also be the closing night film for FrightFest Glasgow, March 12th. It hits Shudder April 15th, streaming exclusively on the platform in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand with a U.S. theatrical release through RLJE Films.
