So, here’s a fun little fact to put in your back pocket:

That’s right: Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise, which had a production budget just under $20M, has officially raked in $100M at the worldwide box office. For those keeping score on such things, that’s $2.5M higher than the amount earned by the previous Deadite movie, Fede รlvarez’s succinctly-titled Evil Dead. It’s a massive win for Cronin, the Evil Dead Rise cast and crew, and anyone hoping to see more Evil Dead movies in theaters.

Which is definitely gonna happen, right? Probably! There’s no telling where it’ll go from here, of course, but recent comments made by former series star (and current series producer) Bruce Campbell indicate that the creative hivemind behind these films is open to all kinds of ideas. If they’re taking pitches, here’s mine: let’s see an Evil Dead western. Have some toothless prospector discover one of the franchise’s cursed books in a gold mine or somesuch, unleashing Deadites on a nearby mining town, and watch the money roll in.

At any rate, we’re always delighted to see horror winning at the box office, and we’re particularly delighted to see that the Evil Dead franchise still has plenty of life left in it. Here’s to many more!
