We’ve got some groovy news for players who have been enjoying Evil Dead: The Game, as a brand new game mode has launched today. The even better news? This is not paid DLC and is available for everyone who currently owns the game. Dubbed Splatter Royale, the new mode is a massive, free-for-all mode that pits up to 40 players against one another in kill-or-be-killed style. So whether you’re already enjoying what it has to offer, or have been waiting for a reason to pick up a copy, this might be the thing to push it over the top.
The above trailer offers a glimpse at the carnage that comes with this new battle royale style of play. The big hook here is that you will play as a Deadite, and can choose a Deadite version of pretty much any Evil Dead character currently available in the game. The footage makes it look like an absolutely chaotic, blood-soaked rumble to be the last one standing. For my money, it looks like a great deal of fun. Developer Saber Interactive describes the new mode as follows:
“Choose Deadite versions of any Survivors and Demons from the game – including DLC characters and outfits you’ve purchased – and use your wits and weapons to become the last person standing in fast-paced, cutthroat action. Battle up to 40 players and experience even more carnage with two new bonus weapons: the long-range grenade launcher and the scythe, deadly for close-range Deadite combat.”
Aside from the new game mode, there is also an Immortal Power DLC Bundle available. It runs for $9.99 and comes with quite a few in-game bonus goods. What, precisely, will one get for their money? We’re glad you asked! Here’s the breakdown:
– New Survivor: Ruby Knowby. Ruby is voiced by the legendary Lucy Lawless, reprising her mysterious role from the STARZ series Ash vs Evil Dead. As a Dark One, Ruby can regenerate health, increase her possession resistance, and boost the damage of her weapons. She can also consume souls to make her aura stronger and charge her unique ability, triggering a deadly blast that damages evil units within range and heals nearby Survivors.
– Kelly “Scourge of Evil” Outfit
– Pablo “Fish n’ Chips” Outfit
– Ash vs Evil Dead “Party Animal” Outfit
– Puppeteer Demon Class “King of the White Frost” Outfit
Meanwhile, this is far from the only Evil Dead coming our way this year as the first new movie in the franchise in a full decade, Evil Dead Rise, is due to hit theaters in April. Lots to look forward to on that front for the first time in a long time.
Evil Dead: The Game is available for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC, with a Nintendo Switch release coming soon.
