Elevator Game, the upcoming urban legend horror from Fango’s own Rebekah McKendry (Glorious) hits Shudder tomorrow – and we’ve got a brand new exclusive clip to get you good and ready for it.
The spooky supernatural horror was written by Captive‘s Travis Seppala and is based on a very real online urban legend that is believed to have originated in South Korea. The full synopsis reads as follows:
Based on the online phenomenon of the same name,ย ELEVATOR GAMEย follows socially awkward teenager Ryan, who ingratiates himself into a group of recent high school graduates that run an online web series debunking urban legends. But Ryan has a secret: His sister disappeared months earlier, and he believes they โ and a dangerous online challenge called โThe Elevator Gameโ โ were responsible. To play the game, you must ride the elevator in a specific sequence, invoking a supernatural creature called โThe 5thย Floor Womanโ. In an attempt to gain more information as to the whereabouts of his sister, Ryan persuades the group to play the game once more, and risk unleashing the most fearsome consequences imaginable.
Elevator Game stars Gino Anania (Skymed), Alec Carlos (Orphan: First Kill), Megan Best (Sรฉance), Nazariy Demkowicz (Dark Harvest), Verity Marks (Toys of Terror), Liam Stewart-Kanigan (Orphan: First Kill), Madison MacIsaac and Samantha Halas.
Previously speaking to Deadline, McKendry had this to say about her own experiences with the online urban legend:
โIt was several years ago when I first read about โThe Elevator Gameโย online, and I was immediately intrigued by the rules, curse, and โThe 5th Floor Woman […] For me, this well-known internet legend was an exciting and chilling entrance into a modern-day ghost story. But if you want to open the door to the other side, you must follow all the rules. Go to the floors in order, donโt open your eyes, and whatever you do, donโt speak to her. Now letโs start by going to 4.โ
Elevator Game hits Shudder tomorrow, September 15. While you wait, get ready by watching our exclusive clip below, where a group of teens explain the rules to the deadly game (we’re sure that’ll end well):
