The mockumentary presents some of the horrors and trauma of girlhood while balancing it with some of the joys of adolescence. It stars 100 actresses and is filmed in various locations to show the feminine experience through teenage angst, gore, rape, and other dark situations. The film is shot entirely on 16mm film, a signature style for Kansas Bowling, who made her horror comedy BC Butcher on film for Troma Entertainment.
Cuddly Toys is a bloody milkshake inspired by the Mondo Cane, Faces of Death, and Bye Bye Birdie. Savor it or spit it out because the true lives of American girls are about to shock you.
Read our exclusive interview with Bowling about the film, the cinematic inspirations, and the horror of it all.
