Back in May, we bought you an exclusive reveal of the cast of Alice Maio Mackay’s upcoming queer Christmas horror – and today we’re bringing you some exclusive first-look stills, as well as a pretty damn fantastic title reveal.

The fifth (yes, fifth!) feature from the 18-year-old trans filmmaker, entitled Carnage for Christmas, stars actor and model Jeremy Moineau,ย Dominique Boothย (Boogeyman Pop), Zarif (Lonesome, Wellmania), Joe Romeo (Awoken, Firebite), Yassica Switakowski (Last King of the Cross), Alyssa Peters, Tumelo Nthupi, Lewi Dawson (First Day), andย Olivia Deebleย (More Than This,ย Secret Society of Second-Born Royals).

Bringing her skills to Carnage for Christmas‘ editing room is Emmy-award nominated filmmaker Vera Drew (The People’s Joker), and delivering the gnarly VFX (a sneak peek of which can be seen below) is Adele Shearwin who’s handling effects on the upcoming Phillipou brothers smash Talk 2 Me.

Written by Mackay and Ben Pahl Robinson, the festive Australian horror will delve into the world of true crime, ghosts and urban legends, with the full plot synopsis reading:

When true-crime podcaster and sleuth Lola visits her hometown at Christmas for the first time since running away and transitioning, the vengeful ghost of a historical murderer and urban legend seemingly arises to kill again. Lola must solve the case before her community is slaughtered. She’sย up against not only a psychotic killer, but a town haunted by secrets.ย

Anyone who’s caught any of Mackay’s previous features (So Vam, Bad Girl Boogey or the most recent T Blockers) will know that the talented young filmmaker not only has an eye for cinematic style, but also for great gore, as the following exclusive stills will surely demonstrate:

Yeesh! Those lights will be murder to take down in January.

We don’t yet have a release date for Carnage for Christmas, but can say pretty confidently that it will probably be with us at some point during the festive part of the year. In the meantime, you can follow Alice’s social media to keep up to date with the progress on Carnage for Christmas!
