Chris Nash and Shudder’s ‘arthouse slasher’ In A Violent Nature hits theaters in a couple of days on May 31, and to get you appropriately hyped for the unrated and grisly horror, we’ve got a brand new exclusive clip for you today.
Nash’s directorial debut stars Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan and Lea Rose Sebastianis, and follows โthe enigmatic resurrection, rampage, and retribution of an undead monster in a remote wildernessโ.
Since premiering at Sundance,ย In A Violent Nature has been wracking up rave reviews and has even been blessed with the coveted ‘made an audience member vomit‘ rumours that any good horror movie craves.
The clip (seen below) provides a great introduction to the mythology of Johnny, the aforementioned undead slasher wreaking chaos and handing out bloody retribution in the wilderness.
A full plot synopsis reads:
When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back โ along with anyone in his way.
Producing alongside Shudder is Peter Kuplowsky and Shannon Hanmer. In a statement, Shudderโs vice president of programming Samuel Zimmerman had this to say about the upcoming Shudder Original:
