As confirmed by the Prime Video Twitter account, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s Fallout is now officially coming back for a second season!

The genre-hopping, darkly comic adaptation of the Bethesda game series recently debuted to critical raves and an uncommonly positive reaction from both fans and non-fans alike. Makes sense, given that Fallout turned out to contain something for just about everyone.

Starring Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, and a fun parade of supporting performances from a number of excellent character actors, Fallout is set over 200 years after a massive nuclear war brings society to a screeching halt. In the years since the bombs fell, the planet has become a lawless, surreal place filled with mutated insects, giant creatures, feral ghouls (basically, zombies) and a number of factions struggling to take control of it all.

Fallout is also, it’s worth noting, not a direct adaptation of any of Bethesda’s games. Instead, the team behind the show told their own, original tale within the game studio’s already established lore, and this turned out to be an excellent decision: the first season of Fallout is compulsively watchable, building to a satisfying conclusion that also teased where the next season might take us. Also teased: Deathclaws, which were sadly absent from season one.

It’ll likely be some time before we’re sitting down to watch Fallout S2, but a) we’re patient, and b) we’re just thrilled to know that another batch of episodes are on the way. Stay tuned for further updates on Fallout S2 as they become available, folks.
