THE SADNESS (2021)

The Fantasia International Film Festival has announced their third and final wave of programming. The festival kicks off August 5 with the world premiere of Brain Freeze, an apocalyptic zombie feature from Quebec. The International Premiere ofย Takashi Miike’sย The Great Yokai War – Guardians will close out this year’s festivities August 25. Similar to last year, the Montreal based festival will offer primarily virtual screenings, but this time they will also be adding limited in-person viewings for a partially hybrid program.

Being hailed as “this year’s The Dark and the Wicked“, Vincent Grashawโ€™s Southern Gothic nightmare What Josiah Saw will make its world premiere at the fest. David Bruckner’s (The Ritual, The Signal) supernatural offering The Night House will make its Canadian Premiere, and The North American Premiere of Rob Jabbazโ€™s The Sadness looks like one hell of a wild, blood soaked ride. Honestly, the slate is beyond stacked with horrific offerings and it’s genuinely hard to say what we are most excited for!
