R.L.Stine’s Goosebumps (the books and the series) was a pivotal introduction to horror for many of us – and now a whole new generation are going to be terrified by a new Goosebumps series from Disney+. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, wait till you check out this suitably spooky release date (that we can’t believe all upcoming horror movies didn’t snatch up): Friday the 13th of October. We’ve also got our very first teaser today too!

The teen horror comedy stars scream king Justin Long, Rachael Harris, Ana Yi Puig, Miles McKenna, Will Price, Zack Morrisย andย Isa Briones. The Wrap brings us all the details, including our first full plot breakdown as follows:

The show centers on a group of five high school friends who incidentally discover a sinister town secret regarding the death of a teenage boy named Harold Biddle. Three decades after Biddle passed away, the friends throw a Halloween party in his old house, prompting a new haunted reality to come to life. As the kids work together to save their town, they learn some chilling revelations about their own families along the way.

Rob Letterman (2015’s Goosebumps) will direct the first episode, and is also on board as writer and executive producer.

The Wrap also tells us that the adaptation will launch October 13 on both Disney+ and Hulu with the first five episodes of the series running as part of Disney+โ€™s โ€œHallowstreamโ€ and Huluโ€™s โ€œHuluweenโ€ celebrations. Subsequent installments of the 10-episode series will release weekly. The first two episodes of Goosebumps will also air October 13 on Freeform during its โ€œ31 Nights of Halloweenโ€ programming.โ€

We can’t think of a more perfect way to ring in the scary season, so get Goosebumps in your calendar for Halloween viewings, and check out the new teaser while you wait. Just, try not to blink, ok?
