Deadline revealed today that Yellow Veil Pictures have boarded international sales on the latest feature from The Adams Family entitled Where The Devil Roams, and with that exciting announcement comes a first still and teaser poster.
As with 2021’s Hellbender, the Adams family filmmaking unit John Adams, Toby Poser, and their daughter, Zelda Adams all share directing and writing credits on the upcoming picture (as if that wasn’t cool enough, by the way, the family are also their own band). Poser is also producing under the Wonder Wheel Productions banner which – you guessed it – is also family-run.
We only know a little about Where The Devil Roams so far, but what we do know already sounds pretty damn cool:
Set during Depression-era America, Where The Devil Roams follows a family of murderous sideshow performers as they travel the dying carnival circuit.
Hellbender hit Shudder early last year after premiering at Montrealโs Fantasia International Film Festival, where it won Best Actor (Zelda Adams) and Best Score (John Adams). It’s also currently nominated for a Chainsaw Award for Best Streaming Premiere Movie.ย
In an interview with Roger Ebert.com, Poser revealed the process by which the family come up with their ideas (and it’s just as sweet as you might expect):
Well we, basically we sit around and we eat a lot of meals together. And we throw what we said spaghetti, invisible brain wads, and see what sticks. We have a lot of meals, we have a lot of rides in the car, it used to be a lot of driving Zelda to soccer practice, and we kind of, as the story whittles down to something that we want to shoot, the characters come into play too.
Where The Devil Roams is currently in post-production after principal photography wrapped in upstate New York. Yellow Veil will show first footage to buyers at the European Film Market, and the genre specialist label will also co-represent North American rights with CAA Media Finance. Look out for updates on this family film affair as and when they come, and in the meantime check out this VERY creepy official poster from Haunt Love…
