If you caught last year’s V/H/S/99, then you know one of that film’s best segments was “Ozzy’s Dungeon,” which revolved around the host of a Legends of The Hidden Temple-style game show who gets what’s coming to him years after a tragic accident occurred with a contestant on-set. We could spend all day debating which V/H/S/99 segment was the “best,” but no matter what your answer is you’ll likely agree that Flying Lotus’s “Ozzy’s Dungeon” was the most memorable.
Well, today brings good news: Flying Lotus (pictured above on the “Ozzy’s Dungeon” set) has lined up his next project, a sci-fi thriller by the name of Ash, and has brought in Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul and Baby Driver‘s Eizaย Gonzรกlez to headline the film.
Says Deadline, who broke the story:
“Gonzalez will play a woman who wakes up on a distant planet and finds the crew of her space station viciously killed. She must decide whether she can trust the man (Paul) sent to rescue her.”
The film, which is working from an original screenplay written by Jonni Remmler and is set to be produced by XYZ Films and GFC Films (with District 9‘s Neill Blomkamp and Echo Lake onboard as executive producers), may or not end up leaning more “horror” than “thriller.” The ingredients are all there, it would seem, and lord knows that Flying Lotus doesn’t tend to pull punches … but we’ll of course have to see how it turns out! For now, we’re just very excited to hear that Lotus has a new project lined up.
Here’s what he had to say about the announcement:
“We are building something fresh and unique with Ash and havingย Eizaย and Aaron in this world just makes it flames. They are absolute magic makers, brave and equally inspiring. All that to sayโฆ We โbout to kill this shit.”
We have no doubt that he will. Stay tuned for more on Ash as further updates become available, folks!
