FrightFest, the UK’s largest international thriller, fantasy and horror film festival, is set to return this summer – and today the fest unveiled the monstrous 2023 poster from iconic horror illustrator Graham Humphreys.
The poster features the 15th appearance of Humphreys’ Monster, here referencing Re-Animator‘s Herbert West, as well as a selection of the genre’s most iconic mad scientists, including Dr. Caligari, Dr. Lecter and Dr. Moreau.
In a statement, Humphreys (whose 40 year artistic history includes work with Palace Pictures, Arrow Video, Tartan Asia Extreme, BFI Video and many more) detailed more:
โThis yearโs FrightFest poster share itโs theme with the annual FrightFest book, exploring the subject of Mad Doctors. Once again, my artwork needed to be built in multiple parts that could be dismantled and rearranged across different formats, allowing individual elements to work on their own.
Past FrightFest line-ups have included legendary features such as 28 Days Later, House of 1000 Corpses, Martyrs, V/H/S and many more, plus some of the biggest names in horror history such as George A. Romero, Gaspar Noรฉ, Tobe Hooper, Barbara Cramption and Guillermo Del Toro.
This yearโs annual Bank Holiday event takes place at Cineworld Leicester Square between Thursday Aug 24 and Monday August 28, with the 2023 line-up of films being dropped on Thursday 13 July – and we’ll have all the details for you when they land! Check out the full poster below to get you hyped:
