This new film is not only a slasher where a masked killer challenges a friend group; it specifically confronts the horror movie tropes in cinema where the Black characters die first or preconceptions about Black characters. "Wolf Creek" is a horror film where three friends are menaced by a serial killer in the Australian Outback, a vast wilderness area with a very low population. It was directed by Greg McLean and stars John Jarratt, Cassandra Magrath, Kestie Morassi, and Nathan Phillips. At one point, the film was most famous for being a film that Quentin Tarantino really didn't like. The friend group is smaller, but the horror is still pretty big.
