Halle Berry in GOTHIKA (2003).

Halle Berry is returning to the world of horror in Never Let Go, the upcoming film from Lionsgate and Alexandre Aja (Crawl, High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes). Alongside Berry, Deadline tells us today that Percy Daggs IV (The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey) and Anthony B. Jenkins (Florida Man) have joined the cast.

Previously known as Mother Land, Deadline tells us that Never Let Go is currently in production, and follows:

[…] a mother (Berry) and her fraternal twin sons (Daggs and Jenkins) who have been tormented by an evil spirit for years and are convinced to never let go of their familyโ€™s protective bond. But when one of the boys questions if the evil is real, their connection is severed, triggering a terrifying fight for survival.

Aja will direct from a script written by Mean Dreams‘ Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, and will also produce alongside 21 Lapsโ€™ Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and Dan Levine (Stranger Things).

The two young actors joining Oscar-winner Berry in the supernatural thriller already have an impressive set of credits under their belts, with Deadline informing us that Jenkins will star opposite Andra Day, Glenn Close, Moโ€™Nique and Caleb McLaughlin in Lee Daniels’ upcoming horror-thriller The Deliverance (expected to debut on Netflix this year).

We’re very excited to see Berry return to the genre, as we haven’t seen the John Wick: Chapter 3 star in a full-blown supernatural horror for quite some years. With Aja being a directorial powerhouse, we’re even more excited to see what the pair cook up – and we’re not the only ones. Lionsgateโ€™s Production President Erin Westerman had this to say about the collaboration:

โ€œWeโ€™re so thrilled to be working again with Halle and Alex. Halle is a force on screen โ€“ sheโ€™s the perfect person to convey the psychological terror of this mother trying to protect her family. And who better than Alex to ratchet up the tension. Powerhouse producers 21 Laps are going to deliver an elevated thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.โ€

Needless to say, we’ll be watching Never Let Go very closely – stay tuned for updates as and when we get them!
