Catch Twisty the Clown exclusively on Hulu.

One of the longest-running horror shows in television history now has a new, exclusive streaming home, with exclusive being the keyword. It has been announced that Hulu will be the one-and-only streaming home for Ryan Murphyโ€™s American Horror Story in addition to the creatorโ€™s other shows, Pose and American Crime Story. The series had been streaming on Netflix but left the streaming service at the end of February. Netflixโ€™s loss is Huluโ€™s gain.

American Horror Story had previously been available on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video, making it widely available for horror fans to stream as they wished. But in the age of the streaming wars, that was never going to last. With Disney purchasing Fox in 2019, it was just a matter of time before they took the show over entirely and made it exclusive to a streaming outlet that benefits them directly and not the competition. Joe Earley, President of Hulu, had this to say in a statement:

โ€œWe are thrilled that these captivating and trailblazing series from Ryan Murphy have come to Hulu. American Crime Story, American Horror Story and Pose all resonate deeply with audiences in their own ways, and continue to set the standard for riveting, character-driven, inclusive storytelling. Alongside our partners at FX and 20th Television, we are proud to offer these prestigious and thought-provoking titles to our subscribers.โ€

This is perhaps a blow to fans of the show who donโ€™t already subscribe to Hulu, but a move that had been expected, with the writing on the wall. Ever since Disney took over Hulu, they have made FX a cornerstone of the service, with the whole โ€œFX On Huluโ€ section. Some FX shows have even streamed exclusively on the service without ever making it to air. Now? One of the longest-running shows on the air is pulling some attention away from Netflix and Amazon. Interestingly enough, Murphy has a rich overall deal set up at Netflix, yet itโ€™s FX and Hulu that still seem to be benefitting from him the most.

Created by mega-producer Murphy, American Horror Story has been bringing the horror anthology goods to the airwaves since it debuted in 2011, with more than 100 episodes airing to date. FX has so much faith in the showโ€™s continued success that it has already been renewed through season 13, with season 11 set to debut this fall. While each season features a new cast and a new story, several mainstays have been along for much of the ride, including Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, and Evan Peters.

All ten seasons of American Horror Story are currently available on Hulu.
