Just when you’d recovered from those creepy clown sightings of 2016, London-based indie studio Shogun Films and director Phil Claydon (Lesbian Vampire Killers)are traumatizing us all over again withย Helloween – and we’ve got an exclusive look at some creepy stills for you today.
Starring Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott (Renegades), Michael Pareฬ (Streets of Fire) and Ronan Summers (Code Of Silence),ย Helloween is described as a ‘high concept clown horror with lo-fi punk attitude’.
A full plot synopsis for Helloween – which is currently in post-production – reads as follows:
Set during the sinister โkiller clownโ craze of 2016, Doctor Ellen Marks (Sothcott), aided by investigative journalist John Parker (Pareฬ), traces the source of the phenomena to one of her patients โ incarcerated, charistmatic serial killer Carl Cane (Summers) who is using the insidious clown symbolism to recruit an army of the disenfranchised and launch a murderous anarchist movement from London across the globe. With Cane escaped and on the run on October 31st can they stop him before he unleashes hell on Halloween?
Director and writer Claydon teased that Helloween will take some cues from classic British horror of yore, saying:
What if the 2016 creepy clown sightings had a motive and a mastermind behind it… that premise birthed Helloween… a high concept clown horror we made with lo-fi punk attitude. The production harked back to the Hammer era, giving creative freedom to craft a fast paced thrill ride and clown carnage for the modern horror audience.
