What can you expect with the horror movies streaming on Max and Netflix in July? A bonanza of terror and gore, of course! Let’s look at what these two streaming services have in store for horror fans this summer.

If you are a fan of theย Sawย series, get ready to celebrate. Max has no less than seven of the films in the franchise available for your viewing pleasure this month. It’s not all of the Sawย films, but it’s enough for you to have a killer Saw marathon. There are also a couple of outrageously entertaining shark movies on tap as well.

Netflix has a smaller list, but they also have another Sawย series film,ย Jigsaw,ย available this month, as well as the hilarious horror comedy Zombieland,ย The Nun, andย Annabelle,ย to take care of all your scary nun and scary doll needs.

Where else could theย Sawย series go? That's a good question, and if you had made the film into a 3-D gore extravaganza on your bingo card, you would be correct! This film has one of the nastiest and possibly the first public execution in the franchise. In 3-D!

  • American Psychoย (2000) - Streaming on July 1

Mary Harron's American Psycho is a triumph as the novel it is based on, written by Bret Easton Ellis, was considered unfilmable because of the intense and gory graphic violence in the novel. A satire of 90s culture and male ego, it tells the story of a wealthy New Yorker who is also a serial killer who has never even been under suspicion.

Christan Bale stars as the wealthy New York City investment banking executive Patrick Bateman, who hides his alternate psychopathic ego from his co-workers and friends as he delves deeper into his violent, hedonistic fantasies. Willem Dafoe, Jared Leto, Josh Lucas, Reese Witherspoon, Samantha Mathis, Chloรซ Sevigny, Cara Seymour, and Justin Theroux play Bateman's colleagues and other victims.

American Psycho is now streaming on Netflix.

A spin-off in The Conjuringย Universe, Annabelle was inspired by a real-life doll that paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren kept as a cursed object. Shortly after their home is invaded by satanic cultists, a couple begins to experience terrifying supernatural occurrences involving a vintage doll.

The film stars Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, Alfre Woodard, and one of the creepiest dolls you've ever seen.

Once again, the series proves that death has no power over John Kramer as bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one suspect: John Kramer, the man known as Jigsaw, who has been dead for over 10 years.

Jigsaw is now streaming on Netflix.

  • The Nun (2018) - Streaming on July 1

This is the fifth installment of the overall franchise and spawned a sequel in 2023.

The film stars Demiรกn Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, and the very scary Bonnie Aarons in the titular role.

The Nun is now streaming on Netflix.

  • Zombieland (2009) - Streaming on July 1

Ruben Fleischer's rambunctious horror comedy about the survivors of the zombie apocalypse roaming the ruins of America never fails to entertain, both as a horror movie and as a comedy.

Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin star as the cagey, ruthless humans who live as best they can, dodging the zombie hordes. A shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting bruiser in search of the last Twinkie, and a pair of sisters striving to get to an amusement park join forces in a trek across a zombie-filled America. There's also a surprise supporting character that actually works better if you don't know who it is before you watch it for the first time.

Zombieland is now streaming on Netflix.
