Believe it or not, Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. This was the film that launched Zombie’s career as a filmmaker, which began a trilogy that continued with The Devil’s Rejects and Three From Hell, the movie that features a scene wherein The Office‘s Rainn Wilson gets turned into a stuffed mermaid (you may have forgotten about that part, but we didn’t).

House of 1000 Corpses is, in our estimation, a very special piece of work, and today we’re delighted to be learning that the powers-that-be have seen fit to mark its 20th year in existence with two brand-new Blu-ray releases – one of them a Best Buy exclusive steelbook, the other a full-blown boxed set with a completely different cover (and, yes, a few extra goodies).

First, let’s take a look at the special features (via Bloody Disgusting):

DISC ONE:

  • Director Commentary
  • Making-of Featurette
  • Casting Footage
  • Rehearsal Footage
  • Cast and Crew Interviews
  • Theatrical Trailer

DISC TWO: Bonus Disc of Never-Before-Seen Special Features from Rob Zombie

  • Cast & Director Interviews: Rob Zombie, Sid Haig,ย Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon, Karen Black, Rainn Wilson, Chris Hardwick, Erin Daniels, Irwin Keyes, Jennifer Jostyn, Wayne Toth
  • Behind The Scenes: Includes 5 On-Set BTS Segments โ€“ Dr. Satan Test, Professor Test
  • Electronic Press Kit
  • Teaser Trailer

In addition to the above, be aware that if you purchase this new edition of House of 1000 Corpses on your preferred digital platform, you’ll also get access to an all-new director’s commentary that will be exclusive to that version of the release.

Here’s a photo of the widely-available Blu-ray boxed set…

…aaaand here’s a look at that Best Buy-exclusive steelbook version:

Phew. Gonna be hard to choose between these two, but the Dr. Satan artwork on that steelbook version is mighty difficult to argue with. Then again, the digital version has that exclusive director’s commentary … hmmm. Decisions, decisions! Perhaps we should all take this time to weigh our options.

Don’t take too long deciding, though: the 20th-anniversary edition of Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses will be available to purchase on April 11th, so time is of the essence!
