Just about two years ago, Glenn Danzig released his latest feature film, Death Rider in the House of Vampires, into theaters for a very limited time, so limited that most people didn’t get a chance to see it. This was very unfortunate. As anyone who’s seen Glenn Danzig’s Verotika can tell you, the former Misfits frontman makes movies his own way, at his own pace, and with an apparent disregard for many of the so-called “rules” that most filmmakers apply to their craft. Take that as you will.
Anyway, it’s been two years and we have yet to see Death Rider in the House of Vampires pop up on streaming, via VOD, or on physical media. The wait’s been interminable. But good news, Danzig fans: the wait may soon be over.
According to Screen Daily (via our pals at Bloody Disgusting), Death Rider in the House of Vampires is headed for the Cannes marketplace. If someone purchases it, we will be one step closer to a wide release. Presumably, whoever snatches up Danzig’s latest will want to get it in front of as many eyeballs as possible in order to make their money back.
In case you’ve forgotten, Death Rider in the House of Vampires stars Devon Sawa, Danny Trejo, Julian Sands, Lee Ving (likely known to most of you as Clue‘s Mr. Boddy), and Danzig himself. Set in the Old West, the film follows the titular Death Rider (Sawa) into “a dangerous vampire sanctuary where the price of admission is one female virgin.”
Nothing further to report on Death Rider in the House of Vampires at this time, but if you happen to be going to Cannes this year, do us all a favor and buy Danzig’s movie. We’re dying to get a look at this thing.
