Arthouse slasher In a Violent Nature from writer/director Chris Nash has been on the top of our most hyped 2024 horrors since it premiered at Sundance earlier this year – and if it’s not already on your list, it sure will be after you watch today’s super creepy new trailer from IFC Films and Shudder.
Releasing exclusively in theaters on May 31, 2024, In a Violent Nature follows “the enigmatic resurrection, rampage, and retribution of an undead monster in a remote wilderness”, and stars Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor.
A fuller plot synopsis reads as follows:
When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.
Early reviews out of Sundance tease that this is one slasher that certainly isn’t messing around when it comes to guts and gore, and you can tell that from the trailer. Makes you wanna think twice before that wilderness camping trip, huh.
