The good folks over at Bloody Disgusting got their hands on the very first trailer for XYZ Films’ The Park this morning, and we are immediate fans of what writer/director Shal Ngo seems to be up to here.
Shot in and around an abandoned Six Flags amusement park outside of New Orleans, The Park imagines a world where every adult has died off … and the children who survived are left to fend for themselves. Trouble is, more than one group of kids wants control of that amusement park, and in a world without parental oversight, that means things are about to get real bloody – real quick.
Let’s take a look:
Here’s an official plot synopsis, for your records:
โThe Park tells the story of a mysterious virus that starts killing all adults, leaving society to be governed by children living on borrowed time. After the adult population is wiped out, rival kids battle for control of an abandoned theme park. Danger lurks around every corner, and they must do whatever it takes to survive their hellish Neverland.โ
Kids really seem to be having their day in the horror sun right now, don’t they? The Park, which arrives on March 2nd, follows on the heels of Jason Eisener’s Kids vs. Aliens and Roxanne Benjamin’s There’s Something Wrong With the Children, two films that pulled zero punches in terms of putting their young characters in peril. Both films are also, undeniably, a helluva lot of fun, so we’re absolutely in the mood for whatever Ngo’s cooked up with The Park.
