It’s Halloween. Everyone is entitled to one good poster, and Jason Edmiston has once again tackled John Carpenter’s classic Halloween (1978) with a new poster that will be dropping online as a timed edition and limited edition variant at the Halloween 45 convention in Pasadena, CA on September 30 – October 1. Michael Myers came home in Edmiston’s new print as The Shape looms over the infamous Haddonfield house with the iconic pumpkin from the opening credits radiating light in the background.

Before jumping into the details and first look at the posters, we have a quote from Jason Edmiston about his art:

โ€œThese screen prints are based on art, that was initially created for Spooky Pinball’s official Halloween pinball game. The separations for these posters were painstakingly recreated to accurately represent all the details and color nuances of the original acrylic painting. I used a combination of transparent and opaque ink layers to achieve the wide-ranging color palette, utilizing a unique technique that Iโ€™ve developed over my career.

I previously employed this approach for the well-known official recreations of famous movie posters as screen prints such as Roger Kastel’s Jaws, Frank Frazetta’s From Dusk Till Dawn, and most recently Lanny Power’s Dawn of the Dead. The variant limited edition art print utilizes many of the same layers, but with a dramatically noticeable cool color shift, sans title and credits.โ€
